"Blake is My Homie" Review

The theme of the blog “Blake Is My Homie” is about showing the reader many interesting information about William Blake and his poem. The posts are annotation of the poem and the authors opinions. Two post that struck me was the way Megan Townly annotated the poem “The Tyger” and how Jackie Tignor annotated the poem “The Lamb.”

Megan Townly annotation of the poem “The Tyger" is about a tiger that portrays both beauty and fear in the poem (shown in stanza 1). The poem deeply describe the tiger's appearance. In the middle of the poem, the Lamb is announced (line 21). Megan then explains creator of the Lamb is God and the tiger symbolized the existence of evil in the world and God created evil. In conclusion, Megan wanted the readers to know that evil exist in this world so we could change from it and become a better person.

The other poem, “The Lamb" is about a human asking question about the lamb. These questions: “Little Lamb, who made thee?” and “Dost thou know who made thee?” are answered for us in the post. Jackie Tignor annotation of the poem shows the true meaning of the meaning of “The Lamb.” She then explains the Bible speaks of the Lord being our shepherd. But, with the knowledge of the Bible the questions could indicate an answer of the Lord. Since, the Lord wants his children to have knowledge about him. The poem also represent the Lord sending his son down to earth to die for our sins. Jackie tells the reader, Jesus was born on Earth, therefore Jesus is represented as a little child and the Lamb in the poem. Overall, Jackie showed us God’s blessing helps us to not give up and he will guide us through dangerous task we will face.

The importance of the blog is to learn more about William Blake’s poem and to understand more about the meaning of life. This, they exceeded by annotating the poem very well. If you want to learn more about William Blake and his poem, go check their blog website.
